Saenz Elementary...a great place to be!
Have you noticed Saenz Elementary’s web site? Please go to www.saenz.aliceisd.net to see the format changes that have been developed to make the web site more user-friendly while providing you with timely information about our school and the district in general. Your child’s teacher has their own web page that provides valuable information-check it out!
As we continue to move into the second half of the school year, I want to thank our parents for the continued support you give us and your children as we partner together to provide the children of this community with a top-notch education. The next few months will be quite busy as we continue with tutorials, Choir practice, Orff practice, Science club meetings, Little Olympics and TAKS testing for 3rd & 4th graders.
Saenz Elementary students and staff are working toward achieving higher standards through our curriculum, using more rigorous assessments and asking students to be more accountable for their learning. In order to achieve higher standards, students must attend school everyday, When we look at the school day, there are two very critical times that help reinforce the learning experience for students: the first few minutes of each day and the end of the day. Teachers use the first few minutes of each day to make special
announcements about the day's schedule, discuss the plan for the day and provide reminders for assignments that are due. At the end of the day they often review what was covered and review the assignment sheet. The opening and closing pieces help give
students the ability to be successful and take responsibility for their academics.
Each day we have students arriving at school anywhere from ten to twenty minutes late. We also have students who are picked up early. This class time is important and children who miss this time may be at a disadvantage. When we expect students to be in school for the entire day, we give them a message that school is important.
As always, you are always welcome to come by our school and see what a positive impact we are making in your child’s life! Nora Lopez
